Oklahoma Vital Records Background ChecksThe Oklahoma State Department of Health, Vital Records Services, has certified copies of birth and death certificates. When conducting Oklahoma background checks, it’s important to know that a signed statement is required from the subject named on a birth certificate if you are not that person, or his or her legal representative or a close family member. The signed release must also be accompanied by your own, as well as the subject’s, valid ID.
With proper ID, anyone may request a death certificate if the full name of the deceased subject and the Oklahoma county in which the death occurred are included in the request. The fee for a birth or death certificate search such as a document needed for Oklahoma background checks from Vital Records Services is $15. Oklahoma Criminal Background ChecksOklahoma is an “open records”state. The Oklahoma Open Records Act involves individual privacy interests while making criminal information accessible for reasons of public safety. In compliance with the Act, criminal history record requests, such as those for Oklahoma background checks, must include the full name of the subject as well as his or her date of birth.
Any aliases, nicknames or maiden names should also be mentioned in the request, if known. If the Social Security Number, sex and race are known, this information can also help increase the degree of search results found. A signed release form from the subject whose name appears on the document is not required by Oklahoma law.
Criminal background check fees from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) are $15 for a name search and $19 for a fingerprint search. The OSBI doesn’t perform the fingerprint search and it’s included in a name search. Persons applying to work, or already working, in childcare and nursing related jobs must be subject to sex offender and violent offender Oklahoma background checks for criminal records. Each of these two checks has a $2 fee. In person criminal records requests are usually processed the same day, oftentimes within 10 or 15 minutes of wait time, while mail in applications typically take between 1 – 3 weeks after they are received.
